Review

Edge of Tempest is the type of book where I just had to read one more chapter before bed…which became another chapter…and another chapter. There’s so much happening in this book that I absolutely had to keep reading. It’s hard to write multiple POVs and balance them in a way where each POV is just as interesting as the other(s), but this is something that the author does so well. This is very consistent with the other books in the series; I’m so invested in the characters and couldn’t wait to see what happened to them next.

Something else that I noticed about this series is how the world continually builds on itself. This isn’t the kind of series where all of the worldbuilding is thrown onto you at once; instead, you get things in bits and pieces where the world feels more real. Throughout this book, you’ll continue to discover intricate details about the different towns, their cultures, and celebrations. (Can I have some hadoli please? There were so many pastries in this book I wanted so badly to try!)

What I really liked for this book in particular was the balance between light and dark scenes. In the beginning, I was skeptical of romantic relationships developing for both characters at the same time, but as the book progresses you can see how their relationships evolved into their own separate entities.

Speaking of relationships, this book covers quite a few romantic and platonic relationships. And while there were some scenes I was anticipating and loved in this book, there was one scene in particular that I was a bit underwhelmed by. Regardless, this book is my favorite in the series so far.

Overall, Edge of Tempest was a great third book for the series. There was so much that happened here that I was looking forward to, and so much I can’t wait to read about in the coming books. If you haven’t read this series yet, do pick it up! If you devoured the books like I did you’ll be caught up in no time.
