I am currently closed to book review requests.

While I consider myself an eclectic reader, I do limit myself to the genres I review. This is done for two reasons:

1) To ensure that I am familiar enough with the genre, and

2) To ensure that my reviews are fair and honest, and based more on the elements of the book rather than the genre itself.

I currently accept the following genres for review:

Fiction

Contemporary
Literary Fiction
Science Fiction
Dystopian
Fantasy
Historical Fiction
Mystery

Non-Fiction

Personal Development
True Crime
Science & Technology
Memoirs

This list applies for both young adult and adult titles, although I primarily read adult titles.

If the book genre is not represented on this list but you think it may still be a good fit, feel free to contact me – this list is not set in stone! You can also take a look at my Reviews to get a better idea of what genres of books I review.

Review Format and Rating System

For each review that I post, I always include a disclaimer if a copy was given to me in return for an honest review, and who gave me a copy. My reviews always reflect my honest opinion. Regardless of the rating I give I always treat the author and their work respectfully in my reviews.

Book reviews usually feature a quick synopsis, why I decided to read the book, a summary of the positives and the negatives, and a discussion of those aspects. At the end of my reviews I may also give recommendations to groups most likely to enjoy the book.

My Rating System

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ –This book was fantastic! If there were any issues I had they were very minor.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ –I really enjoyed this book! There were either a few small details or a moderate issue I had with the book, but it didn’t impact my enjoyment of the book too much.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ – This book was enjoyable. There were a few issues I had with the book that impacted my enjoyment of it, but I still liked reading it.

⭐️⭐️ – This book ended up having more issues than redeeming qualities. It was just okay/not that great.

⭐️ – There were a lot of problems with this book. This book had very little or no redeeming qualities to it. I did not like this book at all.

The review will be posted to my blog and cross-posted to Goodreads. Books I read over the course of the month will be featured in my wrap-up posts. Books also have the chance to be featured in other posts such as tags, reading lists, and other bookish posts.

I rate books using a five star rating system. I often use half stars (or even quarter stars) to keep my rating as accurate as possible. On Goodreads, I specify this in the review as Goodreads does not currently support half-stars.

Bookstagram

My Bookstagram posts are planned one month in advance as the photoshoot process takes several hours to set up and complete. If you are looking for a Bookstagram post in addition to a review, please note this when contacting me for a review requestI will let you know if this is something that I can accomodate in my reply and in what timeframe I would be able to do so if I can. You can take a look at my Bookstagram to get an idea of how I caption my posts.

Contact

If you’d like to send a review request, please send an e-mail to julieanna@julieannasbooks.com with the following information:

  • The book title and author
  • Publisher (if applicable)
  • Genre
  • Synopsis
  • Publication date
  • Number of pages
  • Preferred date window for a review to be published
  • Any other information I should know

I will do my best to accomodate review requests as soon as possible, but please allow 1-2 months for me to review your book. Also, if I cannot accomodate your request, it is likely only because I will not be able to dedicate enough time for your request. My blog is a hobby of mine; I do work full-time, so I cannot dedicate myself to reviewing full-time. Based on the information provided I will make a realistic judgement of whether I can accomodate the request in a reasonable amount of time.
