September has come to an end, so it’s time to share my October TBR! And for this month, I’m actually planning on doing something a little bit unconventional for me and not (fully) planning out my reading. This is especially abnormal for me because I enjoy picking out spooky books for the season, but I decided to go against that this month.

While I enjoy picking out spooky reads for my October TBR (and will likely read some anyway), I really just want to see what I’m in the mood for. I love planning and sticking to my TBR, but my mood has been fluctuating way too much recently to plan my reading around that. So this month, I’m going to read the ARCs I have planned and dedicate the rest to whatever strikes me at the moment from my physical TBR. It should be fun – I haven’t had a mood reading month in a long time!

So without further ado, here’s what I plan to read this month!

We Keep the Dead Close by Becky Cooper

This is the Feminist Book Club Pick for October. I’ve been slowly working my way back into true crime, and I do like to keep up with the books each month, so this is one I’d definitely like to read for my October TBR. I’m not too familiar with this case either, so that combined with the length of this book has me very curious.

A Face for Picasso by Ariel Henley

Thank you to FierceReads and NetGalley for the ARC! I read Ariel Henley’s piece in Disability Visibility earlier this year and it’s one of the most memorable of the collection for me, so when I saw Henley was publishing a memoir I knew I wanted to read it too.

Bad Girls Never Say Die by Jennifer Mathieu

Thank you to FierceReads for the ARC! I enjoyed reading Moxie several years ago, and I love the idea of this book being a feminist retelling of The Outsiders. I’ve actually read the first few chapters of this book already and was hooked, so I look forward to continuing it.

Under a Starlit Sky by E.M. Castellan

Thank you (one more time!) to FierceReads and NetGalley for the ARC! While I wasn’t totally in love with the first book, I do want to return to this setting and cozy up with historical fantasy, especially this time of year. I’m also curious to see how the story will progress from the last one!

Let's Chat

Those are all of the books on my TBR for October! Let me know if you read any of these or plan to.

June 2021 TBR

June is here, which means it’s time to share my TBR! Once again, quite a few of my picks for this month are from my physical TBR. And while I always want to read a ton in summer, I *tried* to keep my TBR short this month. I’m going to have a lot going on this month, so I’m not sure how it will go reading-wise. But in an ideal month, here’s what I’m looking forward to reading. Let me know if you’ve read any of these or plan to!

Buddy Read / Discussion, Day 3: The Andromeda Strain

Recently, I’ve been taking part in not only some book clubs, but also buddy reads! Emma from Words and Peace and I are currently reading The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. We’re currently at Day 3 out of 5 in this book, and so far it’s been a very interesting story that combines a fictional narrative with lots of consideration towards scientific accuracy.

Buddy Read / Pre-Read Discussion: The Andromeda Strain by Michael Chrichton

Recently, I’ve been taking part in not only some book clubs, but also buddy reads! Recently Emma from Words and Peace and I buddy read Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. We really enjoyed our buddy read of the book, so we decided to do it again! This time, we’re reading The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. Let us know if you’ve read this book too, or are planning to! But first, let’s welcome Emma back to the blog!
