June is here, which means it’s time to share my TBR! Once again, quite a few of my picks for this month are from my physical TBR. And while I always want to read a ton in summer, I *tried* to keep my TBR short this month. I’m going to have a lot going on this month, so I’m not sure how it will go reading-wise. But in an ideal month, here’s what I’m looking forward to reading. Let me know if you’ve read any of these or plan to!

A Year Without A Name by Cyrus Grace Dunham

A Year Without A Name is a memoir following the process of discovery, identity, and transition. It discusses Dunham’s life and relationship with gender and the process they endured in their coming of age.

This is the Feminist Book Club pick for June. I’m happy to see that this month’s theme is non-binary voices and I previously didn’t know of this memoir. I have a feeling that I’ll be reading this book as soon as my copy comes in the mail.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

A Darker Shade of Magic follows Kell, who has the ability to travel between parallel Londons. She resides in Red London as an ambassador, and services people to show them glimpses of other Londons. When one of these experiences goes awry and Kell discovers a dangerous artifact, Kell must return it to save all of the worlds.

This trilogy has been on my TBR FOREVER. Forever! So I’m finally getting to it this month. I don’t know too much about this trilogy aside from the synopsis and all of the recommendations I received for it. I can’t wait to see what everyone’s been talking about with this one!

Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart

Witches Steeped in Gold follows Iraya, who spent her life in a cell, and Jazmyne, the Queen’s daughter. They are two enemy witches, but must work together to take down a mutual threat.

This book has been on my radar all year, and it came out just last month! I’m clearly very much in a fantasy mood still, and the story and setting sounds like this will make for a book that I really enjoy.

Last Night At The Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo

Last Night at the Telegraph Club takes place in 1950’s San Franscisco, where Lily Hu and Kathleen Miller meet under the sign of the lesbian bar called The Telegraph Club. Despite Red-Scare paranoia and the threat of Lily’s father’s deportation, Lily and Kath risk everything for their love.

I’ve been seeing this book quite a bit lately so I decided to pick it up last time I was at the bookstore. I think this book might actually be one of the first I read this month as well!

Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann

Killers of the Flower Moon tells the true story of the Osage Indian Nation in Oklahoma and the discovery of oil beneath their land. Then, one by one, they were being murdered. The newly-created FBI took on the case, but internal corruption led to their failure in solving it. J. Edgar Hoover turned to Texas Ranger Tom White to take on the case.

This was a Christmas present from a friend (thank you, Sal!), and one that I’ve been looking forward to reading for a while now. This was also referenced while I was reading As Long As Grass Grows as a reference of the relationship between the U.S. government and Indigenous people, and an example of the cruelty and crimes that have been faced against them. This seems like a balance between true crime and history, and I think there will be a lot to learn from this one.

A Sisterhood of Secret Ambitions by Sheena Boekweg

A Sisterhood of Secret Ambitions takes place in 1926 and follows Elsie, who is dropped off in a city with four other girls. They have all been trained together by The Society to become wives of powerful men. But when they find out their next target is earmarked for Presidency, they have a chance to become the most powerful woman in The Society.

I’m taking a part in a Bookstagram tour with Turn the Page Tours for this book! This book has been on my radar for a bit now and the story sounds so interesting. I’m excited to see that there’s asexual representation as well!

Those are all of the books on my TBR for June! Let me know if you read any of these or plan to.

December 2020 Reading Journal Setup

December 2020 Reading Journal Setup

Today I’m sharing my December 2020 Reading Journal setup in my Archer & Olive Neapolitan journal. These are the last of the black pages before they go back to white ones.

This is one of those months where I had one idea in my mind, then it evolved into something else. I still like the end result though!

Again, since my supplies for pens and markers on the blackout pages are a bit more limited, I used some other materials to help dress up the pages. I used some scrapbook paper that reminded me a bit of a Christmas wallpaper, and used some Tombow markers and washi tape to add color. It wasn’t my original vision, but I’m okay with it. Here’s how I set it up:

October 2020 Wrapup

October 2020 Wrapup

This October, I managed to read eleven books. However, some of them weren’t on my TBR which means I missed a few that were on my TBR. But it was also a good reading month; my average rating was a 3.7!

November 2020 TBR

November 2020 TBR

Now that spooky season is over, my TBR is looking like what I would call a “catch-up” month. There’s a few books on my TBR for November that have just been on my physical TBR for way too long. Some of which I’ve even promised to get to earlier in the year. Although October meant getting lots of books for my birthday (and a few I bought for myself), one of my biggest goals is to get my TBR down as much as possible. While TBR 0 is likely to never be a possibility, I feel so much better about choosing books to read when I know there’s a minimal amount of books on my TBR.
