June is here, which means it’s time to share my TBR! Once again, quite a few of my picks for this month are from my physical TBR. And while I always want to read a ton in summer, I *tried* to keep my TBR short this month. I’m going to have a lot going on this month, so I’m not sure how it will go reading-wise. But in an ideal month, here’s what I’m looking forward to reading. Let me know if you’ve read any of these or plan to!
A Year Without A Name by Cyrus Grace Dunham
A Year Without A Name is a memoir following the process of discovery, identity, and transition. It discusses Dunham’s life and relationship with gender and the process they endured in their coming of age.
This is the Feminist Book Club pick for June. I’m happy to see that this month’s theme is non-binary voices and I previously didn’t know of this memoir. I have a feeling that I’ll be reading this book as soon as my copy comes in the mail.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
A Darker Shade of Magic follows Kell, who has the ability to travel between parallel Londons. She resides in Red London as an ambassador, and services people to show them glimpses of other Londons. When one of these experiences goes awry and Kell discovers a dangerous artifact, Kell must return it to save all of the worlds.
This trilogy has been on my TBR FOREVER. Forever! So I’m finally getting to it this month. I don’t know too much about this trilogy aside from the synopsis and all of the recommendations I received for it. I can’t wait to see what everyone’s been talking about with this one!
Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart
Witches Steeped in Gold follows Iraya, who spent her life in a cell, and Jazmyne, the Queen’s daughter. They are two enemy witches, but must work together to take down a mutual threat.
This book has been on my radar all year, and it came out just last month! I’m clearly very much in a fantasy mood still, and the story and setting sounds like this will make for a book that I really enjoy.
Last Night At The Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo
Last Night at the Telegraph Club takes place in 1950’s San Franscisco, where Lily Hu and Kathleen Miller meet under the sign of the lesbian bar called The Telegraph Club. Despite Red-Scare paranoia and the threat of Lily’s father’s deportation, Lily and Kath risk everything for their love.
I’ve been seeing this book quite a bit lately so I decided to pick it up last time I was at the bookstore. I think this book might actually be one of the first I read this month as well!
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann
Killers of the Flower Moon tells the true story of the Osage Indian Nation in Oklahoma and the discovery of oil beneath their land. Then, one by one, they were being murdered. The newly-created FBI took on the case, but internal corruption led to their failure in solving it. J. Edgar Hoover turned to Texas Ranger Tom White to take on the case.
This was a Christmas present from a friend (thank you, Sal!), and one that I’ve been looking forward to reading for a while now. This was also referenced while I was reading As Long As Grass Grows as a reference of the relationship between the U.S. government and Indigenous people, and an example of the cruelty and crimes that have been faced against them. This seems like a balance between true crime and history, and I think there will be a lot to learn from this one.
A Sisterhood of Secret Ambitions by Sheena Boekweg
A Sisterhood of Secret Ambitions takes place in 1926 and follows Elsie, who is dropped off in a city with four other girls. They have all been trained together by The Society to become wives of powerful men. But when they find out their next target is earmarked for Presidency, they have a chance to become the most powerful woman in The Society.
Those are all of the books on my TBR for June! Let me know if you read any of these or plan to.

January 2021 TBR
Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you’ll be kicking off 2021 with some good reads this month.
Not to be a broken record or anything, but my TBR is packed again. I made some plans to read certain books in January because I figured they’d be good Winter reads. I then planned out some anticipated books, some of which I received ARCs for, and well…we know how that goes.
So technically I have 11 books on my TBR. I don’t expect to read all of them at all, but if I have the time to, I’d love to try!
Anyway, here’s what I’m reading this January:
November 2020 Wrapup
This November, I read nine books. And while it’s two books fewer than last month, I read way more pages this month! It was certainly a massive reading month for me.
December 2020 TBR
It’s the final month of the year! And, per usual, I have a ton I want to read this December.
On the surface, ten books does seem like a lot to read in one month. And my following sentences were originally going to prove why this TBR is feasible, but as it turns out, it might not be as feasible as I thought. 😬 It is fewer pages than what I read in November, but it is still technically a lot. I won’t try to push it if it’s not doable, but for some reason I’m thinking this will be okay!
This month features five books from my physical TBR, the FBC pick for the month, three books I wanted to read soon from the library, and one NetGalley ARC.
Without further ado, here’s what’s on the list!
you have a good month ahead of you! i can’t wait to read witches steeped in gold!
Thank you! I’m excited to read Witches Steeped in Gold – I hope you enjoy it too!

Thank you! I just started reading a ton of her books this year. I hope you enjoy them!
I cannot recommend A Darker Shade Of Magic enough! It’s one of my all time favorites and I even named one of my cats after one of the characters. xD I hope you will enjoy these!
That’s amazing! I’m so excited to read these – everyone has so much love for the series and I enjoyed Schwab’s other books, so I can’t wait to see what the excitement is about!
I really liked Telegraph Club! Thought it was very good. Enjoy!
Thank you so much! I just finished it and it was a 5 star read for me. I’m glad you enjoyed it too!
Enjoy!
I have heard a lot of good things about Killers of the Flower Moon, but haven’t read it.
He is an amazing author for sure, I reviewed another book by him 10 years ago: https://wordsandpeace.com/2011/01/18/the-lost-city-of-z/
Thank you! I’m not familiar with his other works, but I’m definitely curious!
