Today I’m sharing my September 2020 Reading Journal setup! In my Archer & Olive Neapolitan journal this is the last few months of the kraft paper, which I think is perfect for September.
Again, my setup looks similar to last month, with some stylistic changes. I might mess around with layouts later on, but this definitely works the best for me functionally!
This September I really wanted to do something autumnal with my reading journal. The hurricane we had just a few weeks ago led to some serious windburn and now the leaves are browning and falling just a bit too early! It’s quite the tease knowing it’s not as cool as it looks just yet! So while the leaves were supposed to start falling much later than now, it’s definitely been on my mind, and I wanted to create a fall design in my journal. I also bought some red stickers that I had in mind for fall spreads. Upon opening them up I realized they’re actually good for year-round use, but I definitely still wanted to incorporate them here.
Title Page and TBR
I started by laying down the red stickers, and I also tried some orange sticky notes and red washi tape to fill in the space. I also decided I wanted to try brush lettering again, but I definitely ended up rushing it anyway. Then after filling headers in, it still felt a bit blank. So, I did as I normally do and started adding stuff until it felt complete! I drew these leaves in pretty quickly, but they still felt a bit flat. That’s when I decided to take a couple of my mildliners and fill some in. And then I was finally satisfied! I’m definitely liking this design a lot more now.
I also finalized my TBR a little bit early, so I got to writing those in too. I do have a little blank space left over, so I might as well fill those in with leaves as well.
Blog and Instagram Posts
I ended up taking a semi-hiatus from Bookstagram, so I didn’t exactly fill this out last month. But I did for my blog posts, and that certainly helped! When I don’t have reviews I like to have ideas for what to post when there’s that gap. So even if I don’t follow these exactly, it’s still very helpful for planning purposes!
Having the black pages start here was a bit of a challenge as well, but I think I carried over the theme alright. It’s certainly making me excited to plan for October, even if it’s a month away.
That’s all for my reading journal this month! Let me know if you journal too!
