While talking to several people about book series on Instagram, I realized just how many out there I left unfinished. And this isn’t exclusive to ones I decided not to finish, either! It’s just a fact that I am horrendously bad at finishing series. So today I’m going to hold myself accountable and list all of the series I started, and want to finish.

Part of the reason why I haven’t finished these yet is because I don’t own them. Additionally, my owned TBR is my current priority. So while I’m not going to be working towards finishing these in the next month, I’d definitely like to finish these in the coming months so I can start other duologies, trilogies, and series. And, well, you know – actually being proactive about finishing those, too.

And one more note – this list only includes books that has installments published that I haven’t read. There are plenty of other series out there that I’d love to finish, but the next books in the series aren’t out yet.

So here are all of the duologies, trilogies, and series that I want to finish!

The Themis Files Trilogy by Sylvain Neuvel

The Themis Files is a sci-fi trilogy that takes place on planet Earth. It begins when young Rose Franklin falls into a hole while riding a bike. But when she is found by firefighters in the hole, she is found in the palm of a giant mechanical hand. With the mystery unsolved for years, Rose Franklin grows up to become a physicist and leads the very team that will unravel the meaning behind this discovery once and for all.

This trilogy so far is so good. In fact, the only reason why I haven’t finished this book so far is because I don’t own the third book! And the only reason why I don’t own the third book is because I’m on a book-buying ban. And I’m on a book-buying ban because I have too many other books on my TBR. But once I resolve that, I imagine Only Human will be one of the first books I buy. This book is read in the format of files, so if you enjoyed the Illuminae Trilogy and are looking for a story in a similar format, you may like this one.

The Deanna Madden Trilogy by A.R. Torre

The Deanna Madden trilogy follows Deanna, who has a very unique life – she hasn’t left the house in years because of her desire to kill. She makes a living as a camgirl, in fact, one of the most popular cammers on the site, and works with many clients. Through her time camming, Deanna learns the secrets of many people. But when there’s one secret that’s too big to keep, Deanna must break from the life she’s settled into, and take the risk of potentially taking lives in order to save another.

This is, again, another trilogy where I only have one book left to read! I started reading this trilogy last year and I’ve been enjoying it since then. I’ve been getting my copies from the library, so pretty soon I’d like to grab the final copy and finish this one up too.

The Expanse by James S.A. Corey

The Expanse is a sc-fi series set in a time where humans colonized space. It primarily follows Jim Holder, an ice miner who, along with his team, have found a dangerous secret, and Detective Miller, who is on the search for one girl. This series combines the elements of space opera, mystery, political intrigue, and horror.

I’m on book four of this series (and have been borrowing it from the library as well). I’m also aware that this series was adapted for TV, and I’d love to watch it when I’m done with this series as well. However, I don’t anticipate I’ll finish this one right away – there are quite a few books left, and since my library’s holds usually run a few weeks at a time for each book, I imagine it’ll take me a while to complete the second half.

The Wormwood Trilogy by Tade Thompson

The Wormwood Trilogy is a science-fiction trilogy set in Nigeria. Rosewater is a town surrounded by a biodome that intrigues many. This is not the case for Kaaro, a government agent who has seen Rosewater from inside its walls, and prefers not to again. But when something unknown is killing many people, Kaaro must return to his past, and begin searching for answers.

Once again, I’ve read two out of three books in this trilogy! I stopped at the second book because the third wasn’t out yet, but now that it is, I can finally finish this one. I liked the premise of this one and would love to know how the last book pans out.

Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo

The Six of Crows duology takes place in the same world as the Grishaverse. It’s a heist novel following Kaz Brekker, a young criminal in search of good fortune. He is presented with a dangerous heist that would give him lifelong wealth and riches, but it’s a mission that he can’t pull off alone.

I only read Six of Crows a couple months back, so I haven’t waited too long to start Crooked Kingdom. However, this is still one I’d like to finish soon! Also, I am aware that there’s at least another book in the Six of Crows universe that I’m leaving out here, but I’d at the very least like to finish this one first before deciding whether or not to read the other book(s).

The Ultimiate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a sci-fi meets humor series. It starts when planet Earth is about to be demolished to create a highway, and Arthur Dent is removed from the planet last-minute by researcher Ford Prefect. Together they travel the galaxy as they revise and craft the guide.

I got two books into this last year, and never finished the series. I own the whole collection as well, so there’s nothing stopping me from finally completing it!

The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

This famous series of mysteries follows the work of detective Sherlock Homes and his companion, Dr. John Watson.

This may be the most shameful one on this list! I also own all of the Sherlock Holmes books, but I’ve only read one. And the only reason why this is the case is because the words on my edition are so small! Every night after reading my copy I’d end up with a massive headache because I could barely see the words (and I have 20/20 vision, too!). So in order to finally finish this I may need to find another way of reading this – or just stop reading before bed for this one.

Those are all of the series that I need to finish – and it was more than I realized! Have you read any of these? Let me know!
